Painting-by-States with the Creative Export Canada Grant

Painting-by-States with the Creative Export Canada Grant

We have some big news! Paintillio was chosen as 1 of 21 businesses to receive the Creative Export Canada grant. As a part of the Export-Ready Stream intake, we’ve obtained government funding to expedite our growth and gain international visibility. The Government of Canada designed this grant to support creative businesses in growing their profit and brand awareness in global markets. This not only benefits Canadian creatives, but our national economy as well.

Now in its sixth consecutive year, the Export-Ready Stream empowers creative businesses and organizations from equity-deserving communities to expand their global network. We’re proud to be collaborating with Canadian BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ artists to create murals for a range of events in the United States this year.

Meet the Artists

Cerberus Star

A two-spirit Laxsgyiik Ts'msyen artist and writer-poet who explores topics like mental health, survivorship and heritage using animals, surrealism and fantasy in their art. We collaborated with Cerb this February at Catersource in Austin, Texas.

Sandeep Johal

A Canadian visual artist whose art engages drawing, textiles, collage and large-scale murals. Her art typically focuses on the stories of women and highlights female suffering through explorations of resistance and resilience. Sandeep joined us at the Creative Industries Expo at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

Charlie Stableford

A local oil painter who has been commissioned by large organizations like Translink, Breast Cancer Society, City of Vancouver and more. They also worked as a preparator in art galleries, partnering with artists to turn their visions into reality. We collaborated with Charlie at the NAEP EPIC in Washington, DC.

We’ll also be using this grant to invest in digital advertising and SEO (search engine optimization) to grow our audience and bring more visibility to the talented artists we partner with. The future of Paintillio is bright!
